I visited the VW website to build and reserve a ID4 Pro S, AWD. One of the process steps is "Financing" at the dealer of your choice.
This raised a red flag with me. So I started an online chat with VW. I asked if the dealer could raise the price above MSRP. I knew the answer, but I was hoping for the ID4, they would change their old business model.
I was wrong. Building a car online, with a known MSRP, does not tell you the actual price. You still have to go to the dealer and get screwed over.
The $7500 tax credit that VW likes to advertise, gets eaten up by the dealer. So sorry VW, you lost me as a customer.
But of course, I am not the real customer.
The dealer is your real customer. As you try to copy Tesla, you should copy their set pricing.
User's recommendation: For the ID4, or other Electrics, watch your Tax Credit disappear at the Dealer.
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered.
Volkswagen Of America Cons: Old dealer pricing model.
